Night Cycling June 2008 - Night Sights*

AJCAA recently held it's second night cycling trip in six months; this time around, it's aptly titled "Night Sights!" as we cycled past the evening skyline that lighted up the sky. Below is the afterthought by one of the Night Cycling Crew - Ms. Sabrina Ng.
_________

Cycling on the roads at night,
Enjoying the breeze,
Exploring Singapore’s beautiful night sights- Singapore Flyer, Esplanade, Sentosa,
Fulfilling supper, chit-chat and photo-taking at Lau Pa Sat,
Games under the stars at Vivocity...

All of these with a great company of friends.

Indeed, such an opportunity is hard to come by. But 38 of us who were at the night cycling did all of the above, with loads of fun.

Night Cycling 2008 - Night Sights - was successfully held on 6 June and the event was well received by ex-AJCians from various batches. There were many who brought their non-AJ friends along as well, immersing them in our alumni's activities and thoroughly enjoying it themselves. Blessed with lovely weather throughout the night, all of our participants managed to complete the entire 33.37 km route without any problems.

The trip from East Coast Park to Sentosa was made possible with our team of organizing committee and facilitators from batches 04/05, 05/06 and 06/07. Special thanks to them for their dedication, time and effort in ensuring the smooth execution of the event. These dedicated crew are Marcus, Tony, Nellyn, Meiying, Joycelyn, Pei Shan and Daniel, accompanied by the following facilitators - Henrietta, Huizhen, Siti, Chengfeng and Jiaying. Thank you all, once again. It was a memorable time organizing the night cycling trip.

We would also like to thank a couple of experienced cyclists whom we met at East Coast Park who volunteered to act as safety marshals, making our night cycling trip a safer one for all of us. Thank you Joel, James, Raymond and Nicholas for helping us out.

Along with that, the silent yet omnipresent safety drivers - Kiat Meng and Siau Hui. These two drivers made the sacrifice and ensured that things were running smoothly. We would like to thank the alumni president and his wife for gracing the event and helping us out in numerous ways.

For those who were present at the event, we thank you for your support and we hope that you had as much fun as we did. I’m sure all of us who were present would agree that it was a great night of making new friends, catching up, fun and laughter.

For those who were unable to join us this time round, we would love to see you guys at our future events!

Weekly updates #13

Dear Excos,

Apologies for the late email sent for last week. Last few days have been pretty hectic for me and yes, I know that the next update is 2 days away.

Can someone (Qixiang or Kent) give me a feedback on how many tutors have registered with us for the tutoring program? Looking at the Facebook event response seems like we only have a few people who are willing to tutor the juniors.

For the Bursary application, so far Siauhui has not received any applications yet. If the responses are so poor, guess we can call off or postpone giving the award this year.

The night cycling event 2 weeks ago was a success. Kudos to the organizing team and the facilitators! I didn’t join the cycling but was with the cyclists as the safety driver and can see that everyone had plenty of fun that night. J

Can Sabrina or Marcus get someone to do a writeup for our 2nd night cycling event and post it on the blog? The pictures Siauhui took that night has been uploaded on Flickr, link attached below:

If any of the cyclists has any more pictures, please feel free to post it up on the blog.

Best regards,

Weekly updates #12

Dear Exco,

Our night cycling is this evening. If you all can make it, please attend to show your support. Me and Siauhui will be there.

Believe you all have received Siauhui’s email on what she has done in building the AJCAA blog. Please support accordingly by providing more photos and writeups.

We’ll discuss more on the follow up actions when the minutes and draft presentation (for the principal’s tea session) is ready.

Have a great weekend.

Best regards,

Keith
