Mentorship Programme

Introduction

AJCAA is looking into developing a Mentorship Programme to better serve the students of AJC and would gladly appreciate any help that could be rendered to the Programme. Various ways to assist the organizing committee include providing better ideas on how to implement the Mentorship Program, participating as mentors and referring potential mentors to us.

Goals of Mentorship Programme
  • To connect AJC students who are striving to gain knowledge and experience in a certain field with AJC alumni and the public who have the relevant experience.
  • To mentor AJC students in whatever ways that would be helpful. That includes providing career guidance, tutoring (teach study skills and techniques) etc.
Who We Are Looking Out For?
  • Anyone who has a certain field of knowledge or expertise which might be helpful to the students and would like to spend time sharing with the students.
  • Anyone who has time to assist the organizing committee to implement the Mentorship Programme.
  • Anyone who can provide us with ideas or comments about how we should better implement the Mentorship Programme.
  • Anyone who thinks he can contribute in any way to the Mentorship Programme.

If you are interested to sign up as a mentor, or wish to know more information about the Mentorship Programme, please fill in the form at http://www.ajcaa.com/mentorship/signup/.

Thank You So Much!

We are really grateful to our fantastic alumni who came down specially on Saturday mornings from 9am to 12 noon to give our juniors some guidance in various subjects.

For many of us, it's tough trying to wake up early on weekends after a long week of hard work or studies. The alumni exco members took turns to do our duty to watch over the sessions. Sometimes, we wonder if we still have the ability (despite the 'A's that we may had) to help the juniors so we really appreciate the time and effort that our alumni spent in coaching our juniors.

Thank You!

Celebrating Mid-Autumn Festival on 2 Oct 2009

If you missed the celebration on 2nd Oct, you've really missed out on a great opportunity to meet up with your friends. Ex-students from different batches (batch of 84 to 08) turned up for the celebration. Some of our seniors brought along their family members (spouse & kids). The younger batches had great fun just sitting around chatting and carrying lanterns (hermm... and burning candles) at AJ square (we used to call it assembly area, AJ Square sounds hip =]).

We are really thankful to all who turned up for the celebrations, especially Mrs Tay, Ms Siau, Ms Ang Fengling and other student helpers. Special thanks to Ms Siau who set the Chinese Riddles (Teng Mi). Despite our combined efforts, we were only able to solve about half of the riddles. We are still trying. Perhaps Ms Siau will reveal the answers in the next alumni exco meeting. =) For those of you who are good in Chinese, perhaps you might want to attempt the riddles posted in the pictures.

Come join us in the celebration next year!

AJ Family Run / 25th Anniversary

Dear Alumni,

As your faithful reporter of news on AJC, I take an excerpt from this year's very special and unique homecoming - our 25th Anniversary. (:

"Anderson Junior College celebrates its 25th Anniversary this year. To build for the next lap, the College seeks donations to its Building and Development Fund to enable the College to sustain and expand its commitment to excellence. The donations will enable us to continue to offer our students, whatever their means, a holistic education within a stimulating and supportive environment, and provide them with a wide range of opportunities and excellent facilities during their time here.

In our commitment to the donors and sponsors, students, staff, parents and alumni members will embark on a 25 km run. This run is symbolic as we trace our glorious 25 years with representatives from the 25 batches of AJCians."

And from the main class doing this marathon run - 19/08 - comes a message:

"On behalf of the college, class 19/08 is cordially inviting ex-ajcians to join the college in celebrating her 25th Anniversary. As part of celebrations, the college will be embarking on a 25km run, which will require the participation from her 25 batches of students.

For more information on the run, you can visit AJC's 25th Anniversary website at

http://ajc.edu.sg/25th/

Sign up can also be done at the website.

Do gather your fellow friends to join you in the run! :)

Note: 1st briefing for participants will be held on the 28th March 09, Sat."

So if you're ready and set - GO straight to the link. Or reply this mail and I'll collate the information!

Best Regards,
Marcus Pang

AJCAA Alumni Tutoring Programme Updates

For the third consecutive year, AJCAA has organised a tutoring programme for the A Level students of AJC, in order to support the current batch of graduating students in their studies.

For 2008, the Alumni Association has managed to expand upon the previous year's programme. AJCAA would like to thank all our volunteer tutors who have made the effort to step forward to help their juniors with their studies. We thank you for your commitment and concern for our juniors, and we look forward to serving you in the year ahead.

Lim Kopi Session Cum Bak Kwa Party 10 Jan 2009

With Chinese New Year just round the corner, the theme for this Lim Kopi session is none other than Chinese New Year Goodies and of course, Bak Kwa! Thanks to Kent for bringing the delicious Bak Kwa!

Since the Lim Kopi Session started last year, we are slowly gaining support with the presence of more and more participants. In time to come, we hope to see alumni turning up for the session in classes or CCA groups. AJCAA hopes our AJ family remains connected and close knitted.

In conjunction with the Lim Kopi session, we also gave out Certificates to thank tutors who have volunteered to provide tution to our juniors. AJCAA tutoring programme started since 2006 and we are very grateful to the tutors for their sacrifices and strong support. We hope to see more Alumni coming forward to help our juniors.

Since the Lim Kopi Sessions started, Marcus Pang has been in charge of organising the event. I would like to take the opportunity to thank him for the contribution. As Marcus is posted to China, he will be out of action for a short while. I'm sure he'll be missed.

If you would like to join our cause in connecting the AJ family, feel free to contact us at info@ajcaa.com!
